§ 02 / Exam spec

Know the exam before you get there.

Pass threshold
78%
approx. pass mark

The RCR sets the bar around 78% via statistical equating (last sitting). That's 156 of 200 items correct. Every mock on FRCRX is timed to the same 200 × 120-minute spec, so your weekly mock score is directly comparable to the RCR's bar.

§ 05 / Answers

The questions we hear most.

What is the First FRCR Anatomy exam format?
First FRCR Anatomy tests recognition of labelled anatomical structures on imaging (radiographs, cross-sectional studies, and related modalities). Practice on FRCRX Anatomy uses stem + five True/False items (A–E) aligned with FRCR-style case banks, with image-first labelled cases.
How should I prepare for FRCR Anatomy?
Work systematically by region (MSK, chest, neuro, abdomen, head & neck). Practise labelled cases daily, review incorrect answers, use timed mocks, and build revision notes on high-yield landmarks. Allow several months of focused image-based practice.
What regions are covered?
Core regions include musculoskeletal, chest & thorax, neuroradiology, abdomen & pelvis, head & neck, vascular, cardiac, breast, paediatric, and gynaecology anatomy as seen on clinical imaging.
When are FRCR Part 1 exam dates?
FRCR Part 1 sittings are held multiple times per year. Check the Royal College of Radiologists website for current Anatomy and Physics dates and application windows.
Can I take Anatomy and Physics separately?
Yes. Anatomy and Physics can be taken in different sittings. Both must be passed to progress. FRCRX Anatomy focuses on labelled anatomy cases; FRCRX Physics covers the physics paper.
Is there a free trial on FRCRX Anatomy?
Yes. New accounts can try a limited set of free labelled cases before subscribing for the full bank, mocks, flashcards, and review tools.

The physics doesn't change.
How you learn it should.
